Rs9b apportioned by CAA for 2007-08 for ADP

A sum of Rs nine billion has been apportioned by Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) for the fiscal 2007-08 for Annual Development Programme (ADP) of airports across the country, out of which Rsthree billion has so far been spent on projects of Islamabad, Gwadar and Peshawar airports between April and June 2007.

CAA had spent in expansion of infrastructure of airports including Lahore airport, at a total cost of Rs1.2 billion. The runway of Islamabad airport was being leveled and is expected to be completed in the next one month.

The construction of the terminal building was expected to start from next fiscal to be completed in 33 months. This will expand the capacity to 25 million passengers annually from the present nine million. Regarding Gwadar airport, it has been planned to be completed in 24 months. Besides, Rs one billion has been sanctioned for Multan airport expansion.
