SriLankan Airlines betting heavily on India

For quite sometime, the SriLankan Airlines gradually augmenting air services into India, matching any other major airlines of global scale operations in the country.

The airline on an average manages 77 frequencies across 11 destinations in India, including its exclusive Coimbatore freighter service that was commissioned about a month ago.

“We call Sri Lanka as a hub in the ocean and India is our major market,” says Mr. D. V. Ravi Madhavan, Cargo Manager of the SriLankan Airlines.

But what really makes the Lankan airline’s tick in the over crowded Indian aviation business? Mr. Madhavan says that over the time the airline manages to remove the apprehensions of its being ‘small’ and carrier of specific goods under its belly hold cargo service. But, now we are carrying dangerous goods, perishables and general items like finished leather, garments, etc. “The industry has acknowledged us,” said Mr. Madhavan.

RPTL signs power pact with western region power utilities
Reliance Power Transmission (RPTL), subsidiary of Reliance Infrastructure, India’s largest private sector enterprise in power utility, has signed power transmission agreement with eight entities from western India for two inter-state power transmission projects.
